What Was the Cause of the Traffic Accident on Azatutyan Street

The Traffic Police's Department for Road Transport Incidents is investigating the circumstances surrounding a traffic accident that occurred in Yerevan on April 7.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the incident happened at around 18:30 at the intersection of Azatutyan Street and Babayan Street, involving a Mercedes vehicle with license plate 35 LP 235 driven by 70-year-old Levik Arakelyan, a resident of Gegharkunik Province, and an Opel vehicle with license plate 35 CZ 089 driven by 25-year-old Arman Karapetyan, a resident of Yerevan.

As a result of the accident, the driver of the Opel, A. Karapetyan, and a passenger in the Mercedes, 69-year-old Vahandukht Arakelyan, who is the driver’s fellow villager, were taken to Armenia Medical Center with injuries.

According to preliminary information provided by the photojournalist, the driver of the Mercedes was found to be at fault for the accident, as he not only failed to yield to the Opel driver but also created a hazardous situation that led to the collision.
