Authorities React Heavily to EU Ambassadors' Statement on Transgender Issues

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "The authorities have reacted heavily to the EU ambassadors' statement regarding transgender issues, and it has been decided that the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should respond: 'Our international partners need to show more respect and sensitivity towards Armenian society.'

They also tried to show that it was the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) that had raised the outcry, claiming that they are creating a climate of hatred against minorities, while they believe that 'a transgender person is also a human being.' However, the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not go unanswered, as Europeans expressed 'deep concern' with grants-receiving NGOs and called on the government to 'reconsider its stance.'
