18 Soldiers Hospitalized: New Details on the MoD 'ZIL' Accident
As a result of the accident on the Meghri-Cyran Gorge road, 18 soldiers have been hospitalized, according to the official information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).
On April 11, at 20:31, the '911' service received a call reporting that an accident had occurred on the Meghri-Cyran Gorge road, involving a vehicle from the N military unit. The vehicle had overturned, and there were injuries requiring the assistance of rescuers. A firefighting and rescue team from the MES was dispatched to the site.
It was found that at the 22nd kilometer of the Meghri-Cyran Gorge road, the 'ZIL 131' vehicle from the N military unit had left the traveled portion of the road, collided with a rock, and overturned. By the time the rescuers arrived, 18 soldiers had already been hospitalized at the Meghri Medical Center, where one of the injured was reported to be in serious condition while the others were stable. Doctors have stated that there is no threat to the lives of the injured. Rescuers have de-energized the vehicle.
