The Payment System for Teachers' Salaries Will Change

Year by year, the number of students in rural schools is declining, and in most schools, the teaching process is organized in two or three-complement classes, causing significant dissatisfaction among both teachers and parents. Teachers are frustrated with the duplicated work, while parents complain about the quality of education when younger students have to be present and listen to topics intended for older students, leading to frequent confusion.

The issue is currently under the Ministry of Education and Science's attention, and certain changes are planned.

“Currently, the government's program addresses this issue, stating that the management and teaching methods for schools with a small composition need to change. We need to create approaches that will help us solve this important issue. Discussions are ongoing on how to establish the regulations for forming diversified classes. The new regulations were sent to the Ministry of Justice and have received comments; therefore, the program is being revised,” said Ashot Arshakyan, head of the Department of General Education at the Ministry of Education and Science.

Ashot Arshakyan also noted that after defining the regulations for forming diverse or complement classes, content-related issues will also be clarified, including teaching methods, curriculum materials, time allocation, as well as the system of teacher compensation.
