Eduard Aghajanyan Refuses His Assigned Official Vehicle

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Eduard Aghajanyan, has responded to media publications regarding himself. In particular, he announced in a Facebook post that he has refused his assigned official vehicle but utilizes the duty vehicles for practical purposes on official visits.

Below is the full post:

“In recent days, there have been ‘revelations’ occurring in the media, particularly regarding my alleged retreat from the promise to refuse the official vehicle assigned to me. I will not even address the linguistic resources of what can only be described as subpar texts; I believe there is no need to mention the names of the media outlets.

However, it is necessary to address this accusation to avoid any misinterpretation among the public. When a decision was made to reduce the number of official vehicles in the Prime Minister’s office by nearly 70 percent, I mentioned in my post the list of officials whose assigned vehicles would continue to serve them.

Also mentioned in that same post was a list of vehicles designated to provide duty services. These are the vehicles that serve all employees of the Prime Minister’s office for official visits only. This means that all officials who previously had their own personal official vehicles will use duty vehicles during service visits.

Considering that I have personally given up my assigned vehicle, the same applies to my official visits as well. In other words, an assigned vehicle serves one official only, while a duty vehicle serves everyone. Therefore, all manipulative ‘revelations’ suggesting that I am supposedly engaging in ‘shrewdness’ by utilizing an official vehicle have no relation to reality. I reiterate once more—I have refused my assigned official vehicle, but I do use duty vehicles for practical purposes, just like all other staff members of the office.

P.S. In the context of this issue, another ‘scandalous revelation’ occurred. It turns out that in order to divert public attention from my alleged nefarious purposes, I have secretly changed my previous vehicle and am now covertly roaming the streets of Yerevan. I must disappoint here as well. The Mercedes vehicle has simply been handed over to Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, as the ongoing expenses for his vehicle rendered its use financially inefficient. Since there were no other representative class vehicles in our fleet, we decided to provide this Mercedes to the Deputy Prime Minister and replace it with a Toyota Prado.

P.P.S. Every time, one thinks not to respond to such subpar gossip, and every time realizes that the delicate art of ‘According to our reliable information’ and its impact cannot be underestimated.”
