PHOTOS: Spring Again, Massive Stumps Instead of Trees – Why Deep Pruning is Happening

In Yerevan, tree pruning work has been underway for some time now. Aurora Media received complaints from citizens that trees are being pruned too deeply with chainsaws, cutting even fairly thick branches. As a result, the streets of Yerevan are now adorned with massive "stumps" instead of beautiful trees.

To understand why city authorities are using this method for tree pruning, we spoke with a representative from the Environmental Protection Department of the Municipality.

In our conversation, the municipal employee stated that there is no cause for concern, as this method of tree pruning does not pose any danger. He assured us that just two months after this pruning, the trees will be more lush and healthy.

The representative from the Environmental Protection Department mentioned that this pruning method is accepted by agro-standards and is used globally.

He added that mainly the linden trees are being pruned, which have a difficult time growing in urban conditions.

It should be noted that if the linden trees are not pruned, they must be treated with pesticides, as insects on the trees create discomfort.
