Bribe Transferred to Judge Through Lawyer: NSS Provides Details
The National Security Service of Armenia has reported that operations conducted by relevant divisions yielded information regarding the judge's demand for a particularly large bribe in exchange for performing certain actions in favor of an individual within his authority.
According to the NSS, through operational and investigative measures, the amount of the bribe was transferred to the judge via an accomplice lawyer under the supervision of NSS employees, and shortly thereafter, the money was discovered and seized from the judge.
A criminal case has been initiated in connection with the judge's acceptance of a particularly large bribe, as well as aiding and abetting the bribe's provision, under the provisions of Articles 311 (Parts 2 and 3), 38-311 (Parts 2 and 3), and Article 312 (Part 1) of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which has been forwarded to the Special Investigative Service for further inquiry.
Immediately after committing the crime, the judge has been detained under the provisions of Article 51 of the Constitutional Law on the Judicial Code, and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council and the Prosecutor General of Armenia have been informed in accordance with the stipulated procedure.
It should be noted that the arrested judge is Gagik Heboyan, a judge at the General Jurisdiction Court of Kotayk Province.
