Death Penalty Imposed for Drug Trafficking in Abkhazia

Death penalty has been established for the export and import of large quantities of drugs in Abkhazia, reports Alik Media.

The parliament of Abkhazia unanimously voted in favor of the legislative initiative during the second and final readings, according to which, life imprisonment will be imposed for the possession of large quantities of drugs, with the death penalty as a special form of punishment.

According to the same article, no clemency will be granted to the convicted.

The new amendments to the bill will come into effect on January 1, 2020.
