VIDEO: Man Released on Amnesty Dies in Hospital

At around 23:45 on March 30, a report was received at the central police department from the Armenia Medical Center that an ambulance team had transported a man from Paronyan Street to the hospital. According to the press service of the Armenian Police, the individual was diagnosed with alcohol poisoning and had sustained injuries to his body. Karen Avetisyan, a 33-year-old man released under amnesty, passed away in the hospital on April 1 without regaining consciousness.

During various investigative measures, detectives from the central police department discovered that the deceased man had argued with 35-year-old Vazgen Gevorgyan and 33-year-old Arsen Ohanyan, both residents of Yerevan, on the day he was transported to the hospital. The incident occurred at the apartment of one of their mutual acquaintances in the capital, where alcohol was being consumed. Preliminary findings suggest that a dispute arose concerning domestic issues, leading Vazgen Gevorgyan and Arsen Ohanyan to strike Karen Avetisyan, causing him bodily harm.

Following his death, a criminal case was initiated at the central police department under the characteristics of intentionally causing serious harm to health, resulting in the victim's death due to negligence. Police identified and apprehended Vazgen Gevorgyan on suspicion and arrested him. The criminal case initiated by the police has been transferred to the territorial investigative body for further examination. On April 2, police located and arrested the other suspect, Arsen Ohanyan, who has also been detained.
