The World's Most Expensive Da Vinci Painting Has Disappeared
Employees at the Louvre museum's branch in Abu Dhabi are unsure of the whereabouts of Leonardo da Vinci's painting "Salvator Mundi," which was sold at a record-breaking auction for $450 million in November 2017 and was set to be displayed in Abu Dhabi in September 2018.
According to The New York Times, the museum's management has postponed the exhibition indefinitely without providing any reason, and the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism has refused to comment on the matter.
It has been noted that the painting was acquired in 2017 for the aforementioned record price by a prince from Saudi Arabia.
