We Cannot Allow a Return to the Past, Sharmazanov

The spokesperson of the Republican Party of Armenia, Eduard Sharmazanov, addressed the opposition's proposal on his Facebook page, stating that we cannot allow a return to the past. The post is as follows:

“There has been an active discussion on the internet regarding the proposals of the opposition led by Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the political godfather of Nikol, about transitioning to a semi-presidential system. This would clearly be a regression in terms of both the development of democracy and strengthening national security, as well as ensuring parliamentarism and political pluralism. Such a move would further entrench political monopoly in the hands of a single individual. We cannot allow a return to the past.

The primary focus should not be on catering to the interests of a single person or group, but on strengthening national security and preserving democratic values and political pluralism.
