Father and Son Arsenyans Under the Attention of Law Enforcement
According to reliable information obtained by Irakanum.am, Ashot Arsenyan, the owner of the "Jermuk Group" and a former member of parliament, was recently summoned by the Special Investigative Service. The reason for calling the businessman to the law enforcement agencies stems from previous illegal activities.
It is worth noting that last year, the police released an official statement indicating that Ashot Arsenyan had distributed bribery to secure desired results during the 2017 parliamentary elections. The bribery was allegedly handed out by the former head of the Malishka community in Vayots Dzor region, Mher Movsisyan. Mher Movsisyan had resigned from his position as community mayor but is currently participating in the local self-government elections.
Additionally, Ashot Arsenyan has provided clarifications at the Special Investigative Service regarding how he acquired the "Jermuk" group and the means through which he accumulated wealth. There have been media reports suggesting that Arsenyan seized the company from another businessman.
After the revolution, Ashot Arsenyan, as it is known, distanced himself from Serzh Sargsyan and "defended" the revolutionaries, thereby showing that Nikol Pashinyan was backing him. During a visit to Vayots Dzor region, Nikol Pashinyan was even hosted at the "farm" of Arsenyan's younger son, Vahagn. However, after the elections, even Arsenyan's son, Vahagn, has come under scrutiny from Pashinyan's government.
