Armenia Plans to Purchase 12 Su-30SM Fighters from Russia, Says David Tonoyan
Armenia is looking to acquire a total of 12 Su-30SM fighter jets from Russia. By the end of this year and early 2020, we plan to receive 4 units of the Russian Su-30SM fighter jets.
This was announced by Armenia's Minister of Defense David Tonoyan in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“We are continuing negotiations regarding the delivery of the next batch of Su-30SM fighters. Everything will depend on how quickly that product is ready. We plan to receive the first batch by the end of this year, or at the latest, early next year,” said Tonoyan.
In response to a question regarding how many fighters Armenia would like to purchase in total, David Tonoyan stated that the discussion is about one squadron (12 fighters).
