Victim Changes Testimony in Hayk Sargsyan Case

Today, on February 13, at the Shengavit court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, the next court session continues regarding Hayk Sargsyan, the nephew of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. Testimony was provided by David Simonian, formerly known as "Kenzroni Kyazh," who was a friend of Hayk Sargsyan.

At the prosecutor's request, the preliminary testimonies of the victim, David Simonian, were published. According to the prosecutor, there are significant discrepancies between the testimony given today and the preliminary testimonies, starting with the shooting position of Hayk Sargsyan and details related to drugs.

David Simonian previously stated that he and Hayk Sargsyan had used marijuana together, though he could not recall the name of the dealer.

The victim's preliminary testimony indicates that after using drugs, Hayk Sargsyan fell asleep, and upon waking, he saw himself in an argument with another person over marijuana, during which he was threatened and shot at.

However, during the court hearing, the victim claimed that Hayk Sargsyan did not use drugs in front of him. In his preliminary testimony, he also mentioned that after being taken to the hospital, he revealed that Hayk and Narek Sargsyan had threatened him, saying that if he named Hayk, they would kill him: "Under the influence of those threats, I gave testimony against another person, Arthur Ghevondyan."

In court, David Simonian also stated that he did not demand that Narek Sargsyan, Hayk Sargsyan’s brother, be held accountable, while in his preliminary testimony, he wrote the opposite.

It is worth recalling that on September 10, the judge of the Yerevan City Court of General Jurisdiction, Anna Danibekyan, approved Hayk Sargsyan's lawyer's request and ruled that the bail set for Sargsyan be recognized as permissible. After paying 50 million AMD in bail, Sargsyan was released from the "Nubarashen" penitentiary.
