New Details on the Theft Incident at Baghramyan 26

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched a criminal case in the Arabkir administrative district regarding a theft committed through illegal entry into a storage facility or building. This was reported by the press service of the Committee.

On January 30, 2019, a report was received at the Arabkir administrative district investigative department of the Yerevan City Police stating that an unknown person illegally accessed a wooden display case considered a storage space located in the corridor of an administrative building at 26 Baghramyan Avenue, using technical means to open the lock, and secretly stole four commemorative medals, causing significant property damage.

As a result, a criminal case was initiated under Article 177, Part 2, Item 3 of the RA Criminal Code (theft through illegal entry into a storage facility or building).

On the same day, January 30, an examination of the crime scene was conducted. Forensic fingerprint and genetic examinations were commissioned, and more than 20 individuals were interrogated.

On January 31, the pre-investigation body received information that the stolen commemorative medals were back in their place.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being taken to identify the person or persons who stole the commemorative medals on January 30 and returned them on January 31, as well as to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
