Fake 5000 Dram Bills in Armenia

The investigation into the case of producing, storing, and selling counterfeit money has been completed by the Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia in the Armavir region. Based on the collected evidence, charges have been brought against a 33-year-old resident of the Armavir region.

As a result of investigative and procedural measures, the circumstances and method of producing counterfeit banknotes have been clarified. According to the data obtained during the investigation, the resident of Armavir, born in 1985, decided to print counterfeit banknotes with a nominal value of 5000 drams for the purpose of sale. For this purpose, in January 2014, he used a color inkjet printer to make two counterfeit 5000 dram banknotes from A4 paper intended for printing and stored them at his home.

According to the information obtained during the pre-trial proceedings, the 33-year-old man sold one of the counterfeit bills on November 15, 2018, in the city of Armavir, lending it to another resident of the same region, while he kept the second one with him. Based on sufficient evidence collected in the criminal case, the resident of Armavir, born in 1985, has been charged under the first part of Article 202 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. As a measure of restraint, a signature has been applied to ensure he does not leave. Notification has been issued regarding the completion of the pre-trial investigation, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
