Two Arrested in Shooting Incident at 'Partez' Restaurant

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that large-scale investigative actions are underway within the framework of a criminal case handled by the main investigative department of the Committee, aimed at clarifying the entire spectrum of participants involved in the armed incident near the 'Partez' restaurant complex on Abovyan city’s Arzni highway, which occurred around 1 AM on January 29, 2019. The direction of these actions is focused on individualizing participants and providing a legal assessment.

As previously reported, on January 29, a dispute occurred near the 'Partez' restaurant complex, escalating into an armed incident during which various types of firearms were used. As a result of the gunfire, Artashes Gevorgyan, a resident of Abovyan born in 1989, sustained life-threatening injuries, while seven others suffered injuries of varying severity.

Following immediate investigative actions and operational-search measures, data has been obtained regarding several participants in the dispute and the motives behind it. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case; one is suspected of committing group hooliganism, while the other faces charges of attempted murder and hooliganism involving the use of weapons.

During the pre-trial investigation, various types and calibers of cartridges were discovered and seized at the crime scene, and more than twenty searches were conducted. Several forensic examinations, including forensic medicine, ballistics, trace evidence, and genetic tests, have been appointed to clarify numerous significant circumstances in the case. Several dozen individuals have been questioned, and numerous items have been seized.
