In Abovyan Shooting Incident, Arrested is Son of 'Shshi Melo,' Two Victims are Relatives
The individual arrested in connection with the armed incident that took place near the 'Portez' restaurant complex in Abovyan on the night of January 28 to 29 is the 24-year-old son of former MP Melik Manukyan, known as 'Shshi Melo'. He is suspected of committing hooliganism as part of a group. This was reported by News.am.
According to the media outlet, two of the victims are his relatives: his 26-year-old nephew, Hayk Manukyan, and his 33-year-old cousin, Romen Harutyunyan.
Some of the participants in the incident had been inside the restaurant, and a few individuals invited them outside. During the dispute that broke out between the parties, four types of firearms were used, including a hunting rifle. Preliminary information suggests that the motive behind the incident was prior disagreements between the two groups.
As a result of the gunfire, a 30-year-old resident of Abovyan, Artashes Gevorgyan, lost his life, and seven others sustained varying degrees of bodily injuries.
