Public Salaries Must at Least Approach Private Sector: Avinyan

Armenia's Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan addressed the issue of the civil service system and salaries of civil servants during a conversation with journalists today.

In response to journalists' questions, he notably stated, “We must at least align public salaries with those in the private sector. We should undoubtedly pay attention to the moral aspect, but if we genuinely want to establish a competitive public system, we need to reassess the civil service structure, as well as adjust public sector salaries to at least match those of the private sector to remain competitive, so that the best professionals do not leave for the private sector at some point.”

When asked whether the government is considering dismissing the head of the State Revenue Committee, David Ananyan, Avinyan responded, “Such a discussion has not taken place.”
