Charges Filed Against ‘Shshi Melo’ Son; 4 Arrested
Four more individuals have been arrested in connection with the armed incident that took place near the 'Partez' restaurant complex in Abovyan. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Currently, a total of six individuals hold procedural status in the criminal case, five of whom are suspects.
One of the arrested individuals, 24-year-old Shant Manukyan, who is known as the son of former MP Melik Manukyan, nicknamed 'Shshi Melo', has been charged under Article 258, Part 4, Point 1 of the Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons or items used as weapons), and the investigator has submitted a motion to request the court to choose detention as a preventive measure against him.
It is reminded that on January 29, 2019, around 1 AM, a dispute took place near the 'Partez' restaurant complex on the Arzni highway in Abovyan, escalating into an armed incident in which various types of firearms were used. As a result of the gunfire, eight individuals sustained gunshot wounds, one of whom, Artashes Gevorgyan, a resident of Abovyan born in 1989, succumbed to his injuries.
