Photo: Ambulance Transporting Patient Collides with BMW, Leaving 4 Injured
On the night of January 30, a major car accident occurred in Yerevan. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, two vehicles collided at the intersection of Komitas Avenue and Papazyan Street: a BMW with license plate 01 DP 505 and an ambulance registered under the emergency medical service 1-03.
As a result of the collision, the ambulance overturned, leading to the entrapment of the ambulance driver, a physician, a nurse, and a patient they were transporting to the hospital. With the assistance of rescuers from the Ministry of Emergency Situations' 5th Fire and Rescue Unit, they were extricated from the vehicle. The injured were then transferred to 'Armenia' Medical Center via several other ambulances.
Arriving at the scene were officers from the 1st platoon of the Traffic Police, led by platoon commander Marlén Sargsyan, as well as the Chief Director of Yerevan’s Ambulance Service, Taguhi Stepanyan, and the Deputy Director, Vahe Mirijanyan.
The police are currently investigating the identities of the drivers and the injured parties.
