Police Detains Individuals Engaging in Electric Fishing

On January 23, at 00:45, police officers from the Yeghegnadzor Division and the Territorial Division of Vayots Dzor discovered and detained 1975-born Hamlet P. and 1967-born Karapet G. in the administrative area of Malishka village, near the section of the Arpa River known as “Platina”, on suspicion of illegal fishing.

This information was reported by the Public Relations and Information Department of the Armenian Police. The individuals presented 2 rubber protective suits, a bag containing a battery, a voltage regulator, 2 wooden sticks with metal rings attached, along with a net and wires.

Karapet G. stated that he had caught fish using electric shock methods and kept them on the bank of the river.

From the mentioned location, he presented 7 fish he had caught, contained in a polyethylene bag.

The items and the fish have been seized for further investigation. Preparatory materials are being gathered.
