Oligarchs Are Different, the Classics Are Different, I Apologize: Tsarukyan in Parliament
"I am not a businessman, but an owner." This was stated by the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, during a conversation with journalists during a break at the National Assembly session, in response to the question of whether a businessman can be an MP.
"Am I a businessman for you? I am an owner, and I tell you that today, Tsarukyan is not just an individual MP who has come, but the leader of a party that is the second political force in the political arena. The topic is closed; it’s pointless to discuss it,” said Tsarukyan.
In response to a question from one of the journalists about the definition of an oligarch, Tsarukyan said, "An oligarch is someone who, upon entering a government position, has not owned a personal cat and becomes a billionaire while in office. If you didn’t know, write it down."
The journalist inquired whether this was the classic definition of an oligarch. Tsarukyan replied, "Oligarchs are different, the classics are different, I apologize."
