Second Judge's Recusal Decision in Robert Kocharyan's Case Rejected: Haik Alumyann
The court decided to reject the recusal motion. It justified its decision by stating that the ties between the judge and Aram Orbelyan are not significant enough to affect impartiality,” said Robert Kocharyan's lawyer Haik Alumyann.
Alumyann noted that they submitted an appropriate motion to ensure that if the court later makes a ruling in favor of Robert Kocharyan, the prosecutors will not have grounds to exploit the personal relations between lawyer Orbelyan and the judge.
It is worth mentioning that the second judge in the case against the second President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, who is accused of violating the constitutional order, had declared recusal, citing close friendship with Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Orbelyan, which could potentially impact the judge's impartiality in the future.
