New Government Catalogs Peasants' Assets: ‘Zhamanak’
‘Zhamanak’ newspaper reports: ‘The new government of Armenia has started to catalog the assets of Armenian peasants in order to understand what each person possesses—how many pigs, chickens, cows, or ducks they have.
It is not entirely clear why this fake inventory is being conducted, as peasants either hide their assets out of habit or fear, or the cataloguers are simply writing approximate and arbitrary figures. As a result, the numbers that will be published will bear no connection to reality.’
