Court Hearing on Robert Kocherian's Release on Bail Begins

The court hearing regarding the request to replace the preventive measure of imprisonment for former president Robert Kocharian with an alternative measure of release on bail has commenced at the Shengavit residence of the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction.

The specific amount for the bail is not mentioned in the request; if the court decides to grant the motion for release on bail, it will also determine the bail amount at its discretion.

The second president will not be present at the hearing. According to his lawyer Aram Orbelyan, this is a technical hearing, and the participation of the suspect or accused does not add significant value.

He added that if the court decides to release Kocharian from preliminary detention, it will occur after a certain period following the payment of the established bail.

Robert Kocharian has been in custody since December 7.
