Artak Davtyan Talks About Incidents in the Army
This year's winter military draft will follow the usual procedure, with no changes anticipated. This was stated by the Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, Artak Davtyan, during a press briefing with journalists at the Ministry of Defense's central recruiting station on January 8.
Responding to journalists' questions regarding the use of defective vehicles in the army and the incidents that have resulted, Davtyan noted that over the past four years, the Armed Forces have been equipped with more than 2,000 new vehicles. He emphasized that all vehicles that are unfit for service due to age or defect are being removed from operation. The procurement process for new vehicles will continue this year.
Davtyan stated that no one can completely rule out unfortunate incidents.
“Any machinery, even new ones, has the potential to fail technically. We are doing everything possible to ensure such equipment does not appear during operations. We are particularly focused on the vehicles operated by conscripts. The unfortunate incident we had has led to stricter measures in this regard,” he said.
