The Special Investigation Service Completes the Charge Against Vahagn Harutyunyan and Submits a Request for His Arrest

The Special Investigation Service has completed the charge against Vahagn Harutyunyan, the former head of the investigative group accused of falsifying evidence in the "March 1" case.

This was reported to Tert.am in response to a question about whether the Special Investigation Service is aware that the Prosecutor General's Office will not appeal the Court of Appeals' decision to lift the detention of Harutyunyan. The Special Investigation Service noted that this may be related to the completion of the charges, which has also been communicated to the supervising prosecutor.

In response to the inquiry about whether they are aware that the Prosecutor's Office will not challenge the decision on releasing him from detention, Special Investigation Service spokesperson Marina Ohanyan stated that they do not comment on the Prosecutor's Office's decision. However, they believe that this may also be due to the investigator's decision made today to complete Vahagn Harutyunyan's charges.

Regarding the specific charges presented, the Special Investigation Service stated:

"In addition to the charge of falsifying evidence, Vahagn Harutyunyan has also been charged under part 2 of Article 308 of the RA Criminal Code (abuse of official authority resulting in severe consequences due to negligence) and under part 2 of Article 309 (overstepping his official powers with violence)."

It should be noted that the Armenian Court of Appeals had annulled the detention decision applied to Vahagn Harutyunyan by the first instance court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan regarding the "March 1" investigative group.
