Attempt to Assassinate Police Officer Armen Yeritsyan on March 1?
The head of the Emergency Situations Ministry's Information Center, Nikolay Grigoryan, highlighted an important detail related to the bloody events of March 1 on his Facebook page.
Grigoryan specifically mentioned that a high-ranking police officer recounted how he was targeted for assassination on March 1. Armtimes.com requested clarification from Nikolay Grigoryan regarding which high-ranking police officer was being referred to; however, he stated that he did not have permission to reveal the name.
According to media reports, the high-ranking police officer in question is Armen Yeritsyan, who was the first deputy chief of the Armenian police in 2008.
"On March 1, 2008, in Armenia, spring began on the first day of March—awakening, love... The day of the Revolution’s global manifestation of kindness and civilian protection turned grim. The military was deployed against peaceful civilians. Shots were fired at completely innocent people, purposefully targeted. A very high-ranking police officer told me how he was targeted with the intention of using the murder to brutally suppress the demonstrators. However, timely information and a warning saved his life, which, unfortunately, cannot be said for the victims," Grigoryan stated.
As per the information from the news outlet, the warning was provided by one of the National Security Service employees.
