Attempt to Import Food Products through Fraud by ‘Lusakert’ Prevented: Food Safety Inspectorate

‘Lusakert’ LLC has issued a statement claiming that the Food Safety Inspection Body has unlawfully banned the import of 302,400 eggs from Russia, assuring that there are all the necessary EAEU documents certifying the safety of the batch.

However, in discussing the documents, the operator failed to mention that the import was banned for a different reason, specifically due to an attempt to import food products through fraud by ‘Lusakert’ LLC. The visible parts of the cargo contained boxes of marked eggs, while behind them were dirty, bloody, broken eggs without any expiration dates, which constitutes a gross violation of the requirements outlined in the Armenian government’s decision No. 1438-N dated September 29, 2011, approving the technical regulations for eggs and egg products.

Thus, the import of eggs by ‘Lusakert’ LLC has been prohibited by the Food Safety Inspectorate of the Republic of Armenia due to violations of the requirements established by the technical regulations for eggs and egg products.

Note: It is peculiar that the business entity is also complaining about the very organization with which they would apply to the Armenian government every year to request stricter controls on imported eggs, arguing that the sale of non-local products under the guise of local ones has gradually undermined the poultry sector, transforming a self-sufficient country in poultry production into an importer. Now, the same operator is attempting to import products without meeting the requirements set by legislative norms.
