Two Employees of Haypost Arrested
As a result of measures taken in connection with a criminal case concerning the illegal receipt of particularly large sums by employees of the Vardenis social support territorial agency, two more individuals have been arrested on suspicion of committing large-scale fraud.
Earlier, we reported that following extensive investigative actions, it was revealed that one former and one current employee of the Vardenis social support territorial agency, between 2013 and 2018, had unlawfully registered citizens in the family benefit system in the agency’s computer database without the knowledge of the individuals, leading to the illegal allocation and monthly embezzlement of significantly large sums of money in their names.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 311.1, Part 4, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia.
During the preliminary investigation, it was discovered that employees of Haypost CJSC signed fictitious beneficiaries prepared by the Vardenis social support territorial agency employees and, after taking their own share from the obtained funds, handed over the remaining amounts to the agency's employees.
Based on the collected evidence, a new criminal case was initiated on December 13, 2018, under Article 178, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. It was decided to conduct the preliminary investigation of these two criminal cases within a single proceeding.
Within the framework of the criminal case, employees of Haypost, aged 47 and 34, have also been arrested on suspicion of committing large-scale fraud.
An investigation is underway, with necessary investigative and procedural actions being taken to ensure a comprehensive, complete, and objective examination of the case, to clarify the scope of individuals involved in the apparent abuses, to individualize the actions of each, and to provide appropriate legal assessments.
