Parliamentary Extraordinary Elections Kick Off in Armenia
Today, parliamentary extraordinary elections are taking place in the Republic of Armenia. As of 08:00, all polling stations in the Republic have opened.
11 political forces are participating in the extraordinary parliamentary elections, including 9 parties and 2 alliances. The electoral threshold for parties is set at 5 percent, while for alliances, it is 7 percent.
According to the final voter list managed by the police for the 2018 parliamentary elections, the number of voters stands at 2,573,779. There are 13 electoral districts in Armenia, 4 of which are located in Yerevan.
On December 9, 22 local NGOs will carry out an observational mission. An international observation mission will be conducted by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the CIS observation mission, the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and other international organizations.
The 11 political forces have presented 1,471 candidates for parliamentary seats.
