David Shahnazaryan's Son Is a Political Refugee, He Has Requested Asylum from the USA
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "According to our information, the relevant authorities of Nikol Pashinyan's government are preparing a letter against David Shahnazaryan, who holds the second position on the Republican Party's electoral list, and his son. The matter is that Shahnazaryan's son, Gurgen, applied for political asylum from the US authorities several years ago, presenting evidence about his father's political activities that testified that David Shahnazaryan and his family members were being persecuted by Serzh Sargsyan's government.
Now the new government intends to send a letter to the immigration services in Seattle, USA, where Shahnazaryan's son has been living for several years. According to our sources, however, the authorities are facing a complex issue regarding how to formulate it, so that on one hand it is substantiated that David Shahnazaryan is not a political refugee, with the proof being his current position on the Republican electoral list, and on the other hand, they do not justify the previous authorities by proving that they did not conduct political persecutions.
David Shahnazaryan declined to answer our questions yesterday, although we mentioned that it was related to his son. We also asked whether his son is in the USA and if he has requested asylum. He reiterated that he promised journalists that he would not speak with anyone."
