85,000 People to Receive Increased Benefits and Pensions Starting January 1 – Pashinyan
Starting January 1 of the coming year, benefits and pensions for 85,000 people from socially vulnerable groups will be increased. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the campaign of the "My Step" alliance held in Aparan.
“Their pensions do not even cover the cost of bread and cheese. We decided to address the issues of these people first because we believe it is a shame for our country to have starving individuals,” Pashinyan said, adding that they have set an even more ambitious goal to eliminate extreme poverty in Armenia over the next five years.
Pashinyan noted that they will pursue a policy aimed at reducing poverty and encouraging employment.
“We want to support people so that they can ensure the well-being of their families, rather than returning to the old situation where the government pursued a policy that encouraged poverty,” he stated.
