Threats from Russia: Warning about the Scenario Awaiting Armenia
As of May 22, Russia has temporarily banned the import of Armenian flowers, which could deprive Armenia of more than 90 percent of the revenue generated from this sector. According to national statistical agencies, in 2025, Armenia earned a total of $49.1 million from flower exports. Of this amount, $46 million came from supplies to the Russian Federation. Thus, the Russian market accounted for 93.8 percent of the total revenue from the sale of Armenian flowers last year.
Other export destinations for Armenian flowers represent a significantly smaller share. Specifically, about 5 percent of the total export volume was directed to Georgia ($2.3 million), and 1 percent to Kazakhstan ($514.9 thousand). Small batches of Armenian floral products were also purchased by other countries, notably the United Arab Emirates ($166.7 thousand) and Belarus ($61.6 thousand).
