VIDEO: Arpine Sargsyan Discusses Visa Liberalization

There has been an increase in the number of applications from Armenian citizens for Schengen visas, including multiple-entry visas, at the embassies of European Union countries. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan, during a meeting with journalists on May 20, while presenting a report on the implementation of the action program for visa liberalization with the EU.

She referred to discussions about the contrary as misinformation. "At the same time, there are complaints related to queues, and the embassies are working to expand their capabilities to address this issue," she added.

The Minister reported that in 2019, Armenian citizens were issued 51 thousand Schengen visas (34.8% of which were multiple-entry visas), while in 2024, this number increased to 86,300 (43.5% of which were multiple-entry visas). According to her, the rejection rate for visas in 2019 was 13.2%, while in 2024 it is expected to be 12.4%.
