Criminal Prosecution Against 19-Year-Old Driver

The Prosecutor's Office of Armenia has initiated public criminal proceedings against 19-year-old Vahram Markosyan, who deliberately exceeded the speed limit in his vehicle and filmed it in Yerevan.

As reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecutor today launched public criminal proceedings against Markosyan. The charges are based on Article 342, part 1 of the Criminal Code, along with Article 297, part 2, point 3 (hooliganism), and Article 344, part 1.

This information was provided to Auroranews by the Prosecutor General's Office. Following the incident that became known the previous day, based on data received from the police on April 23, 2026, the Investigation Committee's Yerevan Investigative Department initiated a criminal case. The case was opened based on the characteristics defined in Article 342, part 1 of the Criminal Code, which relates to violations of traffic safety requirements or rules of operation of vehicles.

During the preliminary investigation, it was also established that the young man was driving a Mercedes vehicle while his driving license had been suspended. In relation to this fact, another criminal case was initiated under Article 344, part 1 of the Criminal Code (driving a vehicle without a license or with a suspended license), which has been joined with the previous case.
