What to Expect from the Putin-Xi Jinping Meeting: Exclusive Details
Details have emerged regarding the upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping. It has been reported that as a result of the visit, the leaders will adopt a declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations, stated Yuri Ushakov, an advisor to the Russian President.
Other details of the visit include:
- The visit is not related to Trump's visit to China; Putin's trip to Beijing was planned significantly earlier than the dates approved for Trump's visit by Washington.
- Before the visit, the Russian President recorded a video message for the Chinese people.
- The arrival is scheduled for May 19, where the Chinese Foreign Minister will greet Putin, accompanied by an honor guard, and children will also participate in the welcoming ceremony.
- The official start of the visit will take place on May 20 in Tiananmen Square with a meeting with Xi Jinping.
- The Russian delegation will include deputy prime ministers, heads of various ministries including foreign affairs, agriculture, culture, transport, economic development, education, finance, construction, representatives from the presidential administration, heads of several regions, as well as leaders from "Roscosmos," "Rosatom," the Eastern Economic Forum, several banks, large businesses, universities, and information agencies.
- Approximately forty documents are expected to be signed.
- Ushakov particularly highlighted important documents including a joint statement on the further strengthening of comprehensive and strategic partnership, as well as a joint declaration on the formation of a multipolar world and a new type of international relations.
- A meeting between Putin and the head of China's State Council has also been announced, during which issues of trade-economic cooperation will be discussed.
- Several more personal meetings between the leaders of Russia and China are planned before the end of the year, including the SCO summit in Bishkek, the BRICS summit in New Delhi, and the WTO summit in Shenzhen.
