Arrest Warrant for Elon Musk to Be Issued in France
The Paris prosecutor's office is considering the issuance of an international arrest warrant for Elon Musk, the founder of social network X. In an interview on RTL radio, Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccu revealed that based on the ongoing investigation, formal charges could be brought against the American businessman, and should he refuse to appear in court, a search warrant would be issued against him in accordance with the law.
Should Musk ignore judicial notifications, measures will be applied against the owner of the X platform. The preliminary investigation is currently being conducted by three investigators. According to law enforcement sources, the U.S. Department of Justice has yet to provide an official response to the French side, although cooperation between the two countries continues smoothly regarding other matters.
Musk and the company's former CEO, Linda Yaccarino, were summoned for questioning on April 20, but after their failure to appear, the prosecutor's office initiated a preliminary investigation on May 7. This legal process started in January 2025 based on complaints received regarding the operation of the platform's algorithms. The investigation also involves the promotion of Holocaust denial by the Grok chatbot and images of a sexual nature created by artificial intelligence. In February of this year, searches were conducted at X's Paris office with the participation of Europol and the cybercrime gendarmerie.
