Russia Decides to Raise Tariffs, Liquid Gas Prices May Not Decrease - Papoyan
I have sent a relevant inquiry to the Competition Protection Commission to clarify the situation regarding liquid gas pricing in the Republic of Armenia. This was stated by Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan in an interview with Armpulse during a campaign event of the ruling 'Civil Contract' party in the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan on May 12.
"Currently, studies are being conducted. They said that the results will be ready in a week," the minister reported.
According to him, one of the main reasons for the sharp rise in prices for this type of fuel is connected to the situation in Russia. "They have imposed a tariff on liquid gas exported from the country. And this applies to absolutely all countries, not just us. This issue also somewhat affects pricing," Papoyan explained.
The government representative also pointed out the complicated situation created in neighboring Iran. "However, we have managed to secure a minimum program. That is, there is gas. Now we are moving to a maximum program. We want to have a lot of gas and to fill the reserves with it. This will allow us to reduce gas prices," stated the head of the Ministry of Economy.
He asked compatriots to be patient. "But there are issues that are still unresolved. Russia has decided to increase tariffs. Now, if this matter continues to remain unchanged, the cost price will rise. That is, there are factors that we cannot ignore. If these factors remain unchanged until the end, then excuse me, but the price of liquid gas may not decrease anymore. However, there is also a seasonal factor," Papoyan announced, adding that, in any case, there will be no return to previous prices.
