Energy Storage Systems to Be Implemented in Armenia
The National Assembly of Armenia has adopted a bill on the construction of energy storage systems and related facilities, with 63 votes in favor, 0 against, and 13 abstentions in the first reading.
According to the proposal, licenses will be granted through a competitive process determined by regulatory authorities. This will allow companies to participate in the wholesale electricity market as well as provide energy storage and redistributive services.
At the same time, facilities with a capacity of up to 1 MW and those intended for personal use will not require licensing. The document also imposes restrictions on companies operating in the field of electricity transmission and distribution and establishes connection limits for new plants. The reform aims to increase the reliability of the energy system and attract investments in the sector.
