Tomorrow’s Russia Depends on What We Hear Today: Zelensky

The President of Ukraine has announced the new threats from Russia on the battlefield and the corresponding responses being implemented. On May 8, marking the 1535th day since the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky delivered his traditional address. He stated that Russia continues to pursue a policy reminiscent of the Nazis and poses a threat not only to Ukraine but to all of Europe.

According to the president, today's Russian Nazis are trying to restore the order that was defeated in World War II. He emphasized that Ukrainian heroes are defending the people’s right to live against an occupier whose tactics resemble those of past century invaders.

Zelensky informed that he visited Dnipropetrovsk region, where he interacted with soldiers from the 31st and 67th mechanized brigades and the 20th army corps. During the meetings, the need to increase both the quantity and quality of drone usage was discussed. The state leader promised to consider the possibility of increasing funding so that the units could resolve their operational issues on-site.

A meeting of the Supreme Commander’s Staff is planned in the near future, during which issues regarding supply shortages and logistics will be addressed. Zelensky also highlighted the importance of repairing the roads near the front lines, as the quality of these roads affects the speed of rescue operations for the wounded.

Particular attention was paid to the defense of Nikopol and Marganets, as well as the key directions in the Donetsk region. Addressing the new threats from Russia, the President of Ukraine emphasized that the country would act on an absolute mirror principle. He noted that there have been corresponding responses to enemy shelling and airstrikes.

At the end of his address, Zelensky mentioned the importance of humanitarian efforts aimed at freeing captives, referencing the meetings held by Rustem Umerov in the United States.
