Macron's Harsh Statement on Armenian-Russian Relations

“Many believed for a long time that Armenia’s destiny could only be under the guardianship of Russia. However, the 2020 war and everything you went through showed that this was not the sort of protection many had envisioned. We saw that Russia abandoned Armenia,” said French President Emmanuel Macron in Yerevan.

He also noted, “Many thought that the South Caucasus should always be under the protection of someone. But now is Armenia’s time to prove that the peace you have chosen is real, and prosperity is possible without the intervention of empires.”
