Amsterdam Bans Advertising of Meat and Cars
Amsterdam has become the world's first capital to ban advertising of meat and fossil fuel-based products. Starting from May 1, advertisements for such products and services, including burgers, cars, and flights, will no longer be allowed in public spaces.
According to the announcement, advertising panels, public transport, and bus stops will now be used for promoting museums and concerts. The restriction applies exclusively to advertising platforms owned by local authorities and does not include private shops, as well as digital and print media.
This move is aimed at supporting national programs to minimize greenhouse gas emissions and reduce meat consumption by residents by half by 2050.
