Merz Will Not Attend the Summit in Armenia
The Chancellor of Germany, Friedrich Merz, has decided not to participate in the European Political Community (EPC) summit, which will take place on May 4 in Armenia and will bring together around 50 countries. This will be the first time that a German government leader will miss such a large-scale event. This information was reported by the DPA agency.
A representative of the German government clarified in response to DPA's inquiry that the Chancellor will not be able to attend the summit due to other commitments. "For that reason, he will not be present," they noted. It is still unclear who will replace him at the event.
On May 4, Merz is scheduled to attend a meeting of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leadership in Berlin. So far, the government's press service has not announced any other public events involving him.
