Germany Prepares for War: Bloomberg
Germany is beginning to prepare its civilian infrastructure for possible military scenarios, despite a lack of funds in the Bundeswehr's budget, Bloomberg reports.
"The largest European port specializing in car transport, located in Bremerhaven on the German Baltic Sea coast, is undergoing modernization worth €1.35 billion. The investment, funded by the state budget, is intended to strengthen loading platforms to accommodate military equipment, such as the 60-ton Leopard tank, for future front lines," the agency states.
As Bloomberg emphasizes, this project is part of the Federal Republic of Germany's extensive preparations for a potential war. The agency notes that in the event of military conflict in Europe, Germany would occupy a strategically significant position due to its location and industry.
However, the army lacks the resources to finance the project independently, which has led Germany's authorities to seek assistance from the private sector. Cooperation with companies is burdened by complex processes and a lack of direct communication between the parties.
In April, Germany officially confirmed its military strategy for the first time in its history. The document declares the goal of creating the strongest army in Europe by 2039. Russia is identified in this strategy as the "main threat." Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the President of the Russian Federation, stated that Germany's military concept represents the quintessence of Europe's confrontation with Russia.
