Employees of "Tashir Pizza" Dismissed: "Akanates"

„Akanates“ observation mission has reported that it received a call regarding political pressures at one of the Yerevan branches of the "Tashir Pizza" food chain.

According to the mission, three employees were forced to submit their resignation letters due to their refusal to participate in the April 11 rally of the "Strong Armenia" party, and a report has already been submitted to law enforcement authorities regarding this matter.

“According to the data provided to the mission, the company management forced the staff to ensure their presence at the specified political event; however, some employees did not comply with the order, resulting in their dismissal. Among those dismissed is also the branch manager, who reportedly faced targeted pressure due to their affiliation with the "Wings of Unity" party.

“Akanates” states that forcing employees to participate in rallies and dismissing them or coercing them to resign for holding opposing views is not only a violation of labor legislation but also contains elements of crimes described in Article 236 and Article 203 of the Criminal Code of RA (coercing participation in a rally, discrimination).

The “Akanates” observation mission has already submitted the relevant report to law enforcement authorities, demanding an investigation and holding accountable those who applied illegal pressures on employees and forced them to submit resignation letters. We urge all employers to refrain from using labor dependency to coerce employees into attending or refusing to attend rallies, and we remind that influencing a citizen's will in such a manner is a criminal offense,” the statement reads.
