Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has established phone communication with U.S. President Donald Trump. According to a statement from the Turkish President's Communication Directorate, the focus of the conversation was the incident that occurred in Washington.

Erdogan expressed his solidarity with Trump regarding the attempted armed attack during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner. “President Erdogan stated that he views the incident as a disgraceful act against democracy and press freedom, and wished a swift recovery for the injured members of the security service,” the released statement noted.
