Reasons Behind Trump's Cancellation of Envoys' Visit to Pakistan Revealed

U.S. President Donald Trump has halted the trip of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Pakistan, where discussions with Iran were planned. The President disclosed this to Fox News reporter Aisha Hesni.

The reporter announced on the X social platform that during a phone conversation, Trump confirmed his unilateral decision to cancel Witkoff and Kushner's trip. “Some time ago, when my people were about to leave, I told them, ‘No, you are not going to take an 18-hour flight to get there. All the cards are in our hands. They (Iran) can call us whenever they want. But you are no longer going to make 18-hour flights for talks about nothing,’” Hesni quoted the American leader.

On April 24, Axios correspondent Barak Ravid, citing his sources, noted that a direct meeting between U.S. and Iranian delegations was supposed to take place on April 27 in Islamabad. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced that Witkoff and Kushner would leave for the Pakistani capital on April 25 to hear the Iranian side's perspective.

After that, the Iranian Foreign Ministry representative, Esmail Baghaei, stated that Tehran does not plan to meet with U.S. representatives during Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi's visit to Pakistan. Baghaei emphasized that Araqchi will negotiate only with senior Pakistani officials regarding mediation efforts to cease conflicts in the Middle East.

On April 25, Al Hadath television reported that Araqchi had already left Islamabad.
