Ghalibaf Opposes Khamenei's Position

Negotiations between Iran and the United States have reached a breaking point due to internal contradictions within the Iranian leadership and the stance of the Supreme Leader's inner circle on nuclear issues.

According to Iran International, the negotiation process is threatened with failure due to internal disagreements within the Iranian leadership and the hardline approaches of Mojtaba Khamenei’s close associates.

Prior to a planned visit to Islamabad, the Iranian delegation has been instructed not to discuss the nuclear topic, to which Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described negotiations under such conditions as "useless," labeling it a “death penalty” for diplomacy.

Reports indicate that diplomats received warnings for violating "red lines," and talks scheduled for May 2 were canceled due to escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and mutual accusations.

Khamenei is opposed to dialogue with Washington, which is characterized in parliament as a hardline position determining the country’s security course. The conflict within Iranian elites is intensifying, and parliamentary speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf has criticized opponents of the agreement, warning of an escalation in the internal political crisis.
